Statement from the Chief
South Carolina has partnered with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in promoting the Blue Campaign. This campaign is designed to be the unified voice to combat human trafficking across the country. One large myth about human trafficking is that it usually involves kidnapping or physically forcing someone into a situation. In reality, most traffickers use psychological means such as tricking, defrauding, manipulating, or threatening victims into providing exploitative labor or commercial sex services. If you see something, say something. Public safety is a shared responsibility, so we ask for you to trust your instincts. If you feel something is not right, then report it. Every report will be taken seriously, and followed up will be completed. If you suspect human trafficking, then contact your local law enforcement agency or call the toll-free National Human Trafficking Resource Center (NHTRC) hotline at 1-888-373-7888.
