Street Crimes

The Street Crimes Unit (SCU) is a proactive team dedicated to addressing a wide range of public safety issues in Myrtle Beach. Comprised of plain-clothes officers, the unit focuses on narcotics and other street level crimes. In addition, Task Force Officers (TFOs) within the unit work directly with federal partners—including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). Through these partnerships, the unit tackles community concerns and investigation-driven issues with a strong focus on enhancing quality of life.
A central mission of the unit is combating illegal drug and narcotics activity, specifically disrupting distribution networks that contribute to crime in the city. These efforts are closely tied to reducing violent crime, curbing gang activity, and improving neighborhood safety.
